Doemens 2020 construction project: the outer shell is up!

Finally the time has come! After the ground-breaking ceremony in June 2019 and the placing of the cornerstone in February 2020, the topping-out ceremony in mid-May marks the third milestone in the ongoing “Doemens 2020” journey. The shell of the building was completed on schedule and Doemens, as the building’s owner, officially thanked the construction workers for their work during an intimate topping-out ceremony on May 15th.

Such a milestone marks an important juncture in the course of any construction project. From June to the end of July 2019, the excavation pit was dug and shored up. From mid-August 2019 onwards, the outer, four-story shell and raw floors were erected during the following nine month period on the more than 5,000 sqm plot of land in Lohenstrasse in Gräfelfing.

The topping-out ceremony was held on May 15, 2020, with proper social distancing and without the usual coterie of community well-wishers. Dr. Gloßner thanked the workers for their commitment over a snack and a beer and noted appreciatively: “In addition to the favourable weather conditions, the quality of the work and admirable worker motivation from the Pfeiffer company in Rosenheim were decisive factors for the punctual completion of the building! After nine months they will soon move on to other projects, making way for the next crew of craftsmen.

From June 2020, roof sealing, window installations and facade construction, along with raw electrical, heating and sanitary installations will be followed by the installation of the base flooring. From the beginning of January 2021, laying of the floors will commence. Then the pilot plant (pilot and training brewery, bottling and packaging plant), will be installed, with commissioning planned for May, followed by the move to the new facility in the second half of 2021.

Dr. Gloßner is confident that the second phase of the new building project will be just as successful as the first: “One shouldn’t try to tell the future, but if it continues at this pace, we at Doemens will be over the moon!”
