drinktec 2022: international and qualitative

On 12 September 2022, the time had finally come again: after a forced break due to Corona, a major beverage trade fair was held again for the first time since 2019. The exhibitors’ and visitors’ expectations of drinktec 2022 were high; many wanted to be present, exchange ideas and cultivate their networks. And this was achieved, albeit at a weakened level. To date, drinktec 2017 has been the benchmark of all things with over 76,000 visitors from more than 170 countries and 1749 exhibitors from 80 countries. Due to the global political situation and restrictive corona measures in many countries, Messe München can still be satisfied with 1,002 exhibitors from 55 countries and almost 50,000 visitors from 169 countries.

Doemens can also look back on a high-quality trade fair. The newly designed stand in Hall C 6 was always well attended. On more than 70 square metres, many guests from home and abroad were welcomed and served with specially produced Hellen as well as a Session Pale Ale. The demand for educational and further training offers, for sommelier courses as well as for consulting and service offers was enormous and showed once again the strong reputation Doemens enjoys in the national and international beverage industry.

This was also evident at place2beer. In cooperation with Messe München and the Association of Private Breweries, Doemens put together and organised the supporting programme. Among other things, exciting live tastings were held. Doemens sommelier experts Dr Gerrit Blümelhuber (distillates) and Dr Peter Schropp (water and fruit juice) were part of the programme. In addition, Doemens Managing Director Dr. Werner Gloßner presented the further education programmes in the field of apprenticeship in more detail.

Conclusion: The omens for the drinktec team were not easy, comparable to a rollercoaster ride. The result – also with the support of Doemens – was respectable. drinktec is a source of innovation and impetus for the international beverage industry. We can only hope that for the next edition in autumn 2025 the omens will be more positive and that the motto “Grow with the flow” can then be fully implemented and lived.
