Doemens has moved into its new quarters

After almost two-and-a-half years of construction – June 2019 was when we held our memorable groundbreaking ceremony – the new Doemens building was completed in mid-September, followed by a move from Stefanusstraße 8 to Lohenstraße 3 within just a week’s time. Doemens Academy can now offer future-oriented training and continuing education for the brewing, beverage and food industries with an upgraded pilot plant and new laboratory facilities.

The last five years at Doemens Academy have featured slow but steady progress on the construction of our new building at the Gräfelfing site. At the end of 2016, the notarial contracts for the property on Lohenstraße were signed, and the building project was presented to the public at the beginning of 2017.

President Georg Schneider’s statement, “We are building the coolest brewing and food academy in the world”, was the guiding principle that shaped the “Doemens 2020” project from the very beginning. Thanks to a great deal of support and goodwill from various corners – especially from the industry and from our political representatives – a new building has now been realised, so that we can continue to provide a high-quality education as well as extensive services for our many clients.

The aim of the design was for the building structure to reflect an organigram of the academy and thus also facilitate orientation within the new space. This was realised through a compact, three-storey elongated structure. The new facility includes the following units:

  • Brewing centre (Technikum) with pilot and training brewery (5 hl) incl. fermentation and storage cellar/filtration, malthouse, filling and packaging pilot plant, distillery and food technology centre
  • Cafeteria with kitchen (large dining hall incl. learning niche)
  • Service laboratory (laboratory rooms for microbiology, CTA and biotechnology)
  • Practical training labs for CTA and microbiology
  • Seminar rooms and teacher / administrator area

“We now have a building with an excellently equipped brewing facility, with modern training and seminar rooms and laboratories that are well stocked and equipped. We are proud of what we have achieved in the last few years and are already looking forward to taking up the reins to provide for the needs of the beverage and food industries and to offer custom-tailored concepts and solutions,” says Doemens CEO Dr Werner Gloßner.
