Finest Beer Selection 2025 – 852 beers evaluated
From May 20th to 22nd, 2025, 50 beer experts from ten countries tasted 852 beers at Doemens in Gräfelfing, Germany. The candidates were analyzed and evaluated in an innovative tasting format organized by Meininger Verlag and Doemens.
Breweries from almost 20 countries around the globe – from the USA to Mexico, Moldova, Lithuania, Japan, and Vietnam – sent their brewing artistry to Bavaria to receive an independent, transparent, quality assessment from our expert jury. “We are proud that our quality seal, which was launched in 2023, has now established itself as a meaningful award, not only in German-speaking countries, but also far beyond,” says Dr. Werner Gloßner, Doemens Academy Managing Director. ”We are particularly pleased that we have once again been able to increase the number of entries this year.”
The panel of tasters, including master brewers, beer sommeliers, and sensory experts, assesses and describes the beers individually in a blind tasting without direct comparison to other beers, finally awarding an overall rating – the Finest Beer Score – on a 100-point scale. All beers that achieve a Finest Beer Score of 90 points or more are included in the exclusive Finest Beer Selection 2025 and receive a corresponding seal for free use as a marketing tool.
In addition, the special prizes “Beer of the Year” and “Brewery of the Year” are awarded for German and international beers respectively. “Beer of the Year” is the beer that receives the highest Finest Beer Score from the jury. The title “Brewery of the Year” is awarded to the brewery that has placed the most beers in the Finest Beer Selection.
