Finest Beer Selection 2025: The Best Beers of the Year Have Been Chosen

On June 23rd, 2025, the results of the third Finest Beer Selection, organized by Meininger Verlag and the Doemens Academy, were announced during a festive award ceremony in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.

Out of a total of 852 submitted beers from 18 countries, 291 beers earned a Finest Beer Score of 90 points or more and were included in the Finest Beer Selection 2025 – an exclusive quality seal for outstanding brewing craftsmanship.

The award winners at a glance:

  • National Beer of the Year: Aventinus Eisbock by Schneider Weisse (99 points)

  • International Beer of the Year: Viennarillo by Batzen Bräu, Italy (97 points)

  • National Brewery of the Year: Brauerei Kundmüller with an impressive 15 award-winning beers

  • International Brewery of the Year: Stieglbrauerei, Austria, with 11 awarded beers

The organizers expressed their satisfaction: “This year we observed a significant leap in quality – 32 beers even reached world-class level with 95 points or more,” said Dr. Werner Gloßner of the Doemens Academy.

Unlike traditional competitions, this recognition is based on a sensory excellence evaluation conducted by an international panel of experts. A transparent 100-point rating system was used, complemented by individual beer profiles in the form of aromatic spiderweb diagrams.
